
Introduction
The development of the Oil Palm industry in Sarawak has taken a rapid pace in recent years. Hundred thousands of hectrares of jungle land had been cleared and planted with oil palm. The figure is increasing at an annual growth rate of 50,000 to 60,000 hectares. By year 2005, Sarawak has total 543, 398 hectares (Source:MPOB) of oil palm estates land cleared and planted. The state target is 1.0 million hectares by year 2010, from an area of 3.4 million hectares suitable for agriculture.
Objective
As an industrial-driven college, ICATS responded to the demand for qualified and skilled professional in the plantation industry.
Entry Requirements
i. Passed SPM/SPMV with 3 credits including 1 Science subject; or
ii. Passed Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 3 in Senior Estate Conductor or in relevant field, and at least 1 credit in any subject at SPM level; or
iii. Relevant certificate with minimum CGPA of 2.00 recognized by Malaysia Government; or
iv. Any other equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysian Government
Duration
Full time : 2 1/2 - 3 years [6 semesters] - Inclusive of practical training

The nation has reemphasized the need for the agriculture sector to be strengthened as the sector is expected to play greater role in the overall economic growth of the country. The oil palm continues to be a dominant contributor the growth of the agriculture sector. In Sarawak, the rapid growth in the oil palm plantation has created many job opportunities to be filled by local people. Those with Diploma in Plantation Management can seek for position as Supervisor, Cadet and Junior Assistant Manager.
